Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the services provided by Sequoia Analytics (trading as Global Food Observatory), a business registered in the Republic of Ireland, through www.globalfoodobservatory.com and read.globalfoodobservatory.com (collectively, the "Platform"). By subscribing to or accessing our Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use our services.

1. About Global Food Observatory

Global Food Observatory is a B2B subscription intelligence platform operated by Sequoia Analytics (registered in Ireland). We publish weekly food market signal reports, deep-dive market reports, and editorial newsletters covering global food systems, commodities, and supply chain developments.

All content published on the Platform is intended for informational and intelligence purposes only. It does not constitute financial advice, investment advice, trading recommendations, or any other form of professional advice. You should not rely on our content as the sole basis for any business, investment, or financial decision. We strongly recommend seeking independent professional advice where appropriate.

2. Subscription Tiers and Pricing

We offer the following subscription tiers:

Pay-As-You-Go Reports

In addition to subscription tiers, individual deep-dive market intelligence reports are available for one-time purchase at €1,900–€2,200 per report, depending on the title. Report purchases are processed via Lemon Squeezy and deliver an instant PDF download. No subscription is required to purchase a report. Intelligence subscribers receive a 5% discount at checkout.

Pricing is subject to change. Current pricing is always displayed on our website. Existing subscribers will receive at least 30 days' written notice of any change to subscription pricing, which will take effect at their next renewal.

3. Payment Terms

Payments are processed through third-party payment processors depending on the product purchased:

  • Subscriptions (Intelligence tier): Processed through Ghost (our publishing platform), which uses Stripe as its underlying payment infrastructure. By subscribing, you agree to the applicable terms of those processors. We do not store your payment card details.
  • Pay-as-you-go reports: Processed through Lemon Squeezy, a merchant of record. By purchasing a report, you agree to Lemon Squeezy's terms of service. Lemon Squeezy handles VAT and applicable taxes on report sales as the merchant of record.
  • Annual billing: Intelligence subscriptions are billed annually, in advance, at the start of each subscription period.
  • Monthly billing: A monthly billing option is available at €190 per month, billed in advance each month.
  • Currency: All prices are quoted in euros (€). If you pay in a different currency, your bank or payment provider may apply conversion charges.
  • Taxes: Subscription prices are exclusive of VAT or applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Any applicable taxes will be added at checkout. For report purchases via Lemon Squeezy, VAT is handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record.
  • Failed payments: If a subscription payment fails, we will attempt to contact you. Access to paid content may be suspended until payment is resolved.

4. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at hello@globalfoodobservatory.com.

  • Upon cancellation, you will retain full access to the Platform until the end of your current paid subscription period.
  • We do not provide refunds or credits for any unused portion of a subscription period, whether cancelled mid-month or mid-year.
  • After your subscription period ends, your account will revert to Free Preview access (if available) or be deactivated.
  • For Institutional subscriptions governed by a separate agreement, the cancellation terms in that agreement will prevail.

5. Intellectual Property and Permitted Use

5.1 Ownership

All content on the Platform — including weekly market signal reports, deep-dive reports, newsletters, analysis, data visualisations, commentary, and all other materials — is owned by or licensed to Sequoia Analytics Limited and is protected by copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws.

5.2 Licence to Subscribers

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to access and use the Platform content for your own internal business purposes during your subscription period.

5.3 Restrictions on Use

You must not, without our prior written permission:

  • Reproduce, republish, redistribute, resell, or sub-licence any content from the Platform;
  • Share your login credentials or account access with anyone outside the authorised seat allocation for your subscription tier;
  • Forward, copy, or distribute reports, newsletters, or other content to individuals who are not covered by your subscription;
  • Use any content for the purpose of creating a competing product or service;
  • Remove or alter any copyright notices, branding, or attribution from any content.

5.4 Seat Limits

Enterprise As specified in the applicable order or agreement May be shared among named users within the same legal entity, up to the agreed seat count. Not for use across group companies or affiliates without a separate agreement.
Pay-as-you-go Reports 1 named individual (the purchaser) The PDF may be used for the purchaser's own internal business purposes. Distribution to third parties or colleagues not covered by an Enterprise agreement is not permitted.

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access where we reasonably believe these seat limits are being breached.

6. Disclaimer — No Financial or Investment Advice

Important: The content published by Global Food Observatory — including all reports, signals, newsletters, and analysis — is market intelligence for informational purposes only. It does not constitute and must not be construed as financial advice, investment advice, trading advice, or any other form of advice regulated by financial services law.

We make no representations or warranties, express or implied, that any content on the Platform is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for any particular purpose. Food markets are inherently volatile and uncertain. Any reliance you place on our content is strictly at your own risk.

We are not responsible for any loss or damage — including financial loss — arising from decisions made on the basis of our content, whether or not such content contains errors or omissions.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

  • We exclude all warranties, representations, and conditions, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
  • We will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of business opportunity, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you in connection with these Terms — whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise — shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by Irish law.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree that you will not use the Platform to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or its underlying systems;
  • Use automated tools (including bots, scrapers, or crawlers) to extract content from the Platform;
  • Impersonate any person or organisation or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • Engage in any conduct that could damage, disable, or impair the Platform.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these acceptable use obligations, without refund of any prepaid fees.

9. Availability and Changes to the Service

We aim to provide continuous access to the Platform but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may carry out maintenance, updates, or modifications that temporarily affect access. We will endeavour to give advance notice of planned downtime where practicable.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Platform at any time. If we make a material change that significantly reduces the service you receive, we will notify you and, at our discretion, offer a pro-rata credit or refund.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify all active subscribers by email at least 30 days before any material changes take effect, using the email address associated with your account.

Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of the updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may cancel your subscription before the changes take effect.

Minor or non-material changes (such as corrections of typographical errors or clarifications that do not affect your rights) may be made at any time without advance notice.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Ireland.

The courts of Ireland shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms, provided that nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive or other equitable relief in any appropriate jurisdiction.

12. General

  • Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any order confirmation or separate agreement applicable to your subscription tier, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Platform.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
  • Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
  • Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your subscription or any rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms to a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business, subject to giving you reasonable notice.
  • No partnership: Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and us.
  • Language: These Terms are provided in English. In the event of any conflict between a translated version and the English version, the English version shall prevail.
